Chuck s. The Illness

Chuck groggily tapped the off button on his blaring alarm clock. As he lay in bed Chuck knew he felt exhausted, but he had work to go to.

As soon as Chuck stood out of bed his knees buckled, his eyes slowly rolled into the back of his head, and the room began to spin… Chuck fell hard onto the floor.

“Chuck, wake up.” Came a hazy familiar voice. “Chuck we are already late to work, c’mon dude wake up.” Morgan’s voice was reading loud and clear now.

“Morgan” Chuck barely mouthed, looking quite confused.

As Morgan helped Chuck up, he was buzzing around with energy, energy that Chuck secretly envied. Chuck was busy getting dressed and trying to figure out why he was so exhausted and had a mammoth of a headache. He knew he was out a little later than expected because of the debriefing of a finished mission with Sarah and Major Casey, but still no reason to fill this exhausted. He figured that it must be the spy life catching up with him all the while of trying to continue his real life.

“Chuck if we don’t hurry Big Mike is going to have our heads, I mean it’s going to get real nasty almost like a Dynasty Warriors massacre.” Morgan said as he was busting in Chuck’s room not caring if he Chuck was finished dressing our not.

“Ok Ok, let’s go. Why don’t you drive I feel like I am still not awake.” Chuck said breathlessly.

“You sure Chuck, I know you sound a little under the weather but dude you serious?”

“Yes now let’s go.” Chuck was now letting his tired body relax into the passenger side seat.

Morgan began chatting away again but Chuck was too weak to argue and to lifeless to even appear interested, he just sat with his eyes closed the rest of the way to Buy More.

“CHUCK!” Big Mike shouted

The loudness of the voice made Chucks ear ring with agony. Before he even had a chance to answer Big Mike was booming again and berating him for being late.

“Yes sir sorry sir, it will never happen again.” He was too tired to make a funny remark or an excuse. Big Mike was about to continue yelling, he stood blinking blankly for a moment but then turned and huffed and puffed towards Morgan. He could see Morgan with a petrified face and took off real fast in the opposite direction of Big Mike.

As soon as he reached the Nerd Herd desk his team was up and on him about call ins, drop offs, and their daily dose of morning chat.

“Guys, Guys, and Anna, I’m sorry not to seem rude but I have a killer headache talk one at a time please.” Chuck gently said.

“Awww… Chuckles then why don’t you go home we can deal all by ourselves.” Anna said playfully.

“Ya dude we got this besides I don’t think I’ve ever seen you take a day off except when you went to that art auction with your woman and you still worked at least half the day and then came back and worked all damn night so that is still technically not a day off.” Lester said has he patted Chuck on the back.

“No I’m fine it’s just a headache.” Chuck said and as quickly as he answered he turned and headed for some much needed peace in the break room.

Chuck was half way there when Major Casey blocked his way. “Have you had a vision or seen anything?” Casey said in his usual NSA tone. Chuck just blankly stared at him “No, I haven’t had a vision in the time period that you have not been with me which is all like 1 hour.” He said beginning to get irritated. “What’s wrong did Sarah tell you something?” Casey demanded. Chuck let out a sigh “No daddy, mommy hasn’t said anything, I’m just a little tired today plus I have a major headache, I want a quiet moment.” Chuck said.

Casey studied him for a bit and when he was satisfied that Chuck wasn’t lying he left Chuck with his thoughts. Chuck just wanted to go home and go to sleep he knew something was off but only if he knew what was going on under his skin and in his head. After a few quiet moments on the couch Chuck was needed up at the desk to fix a laptop. As the day went on he could feel his headache getting much worse and it was going to get much harder for him to hide I, everyone could start to tell and would pester him to go home. Hell even Big Mike told him to home, but he refused.

Casey began to keep an even closer eye on him more than usual he knew something was wrong with Chuck. He needed to talk with Sarah. He also started to notice that it was odd that Sarah hasn’t come in yet, so he decided to sneak out and have a chat and make sure Sarah didn’t tell him anything. He took one last look over at Chuck and realized how lifeless he looked. Casey began to feel like what a parent must feel like if their child was sick.

To be continued... muahuahuauh!
